The Mediterranean diet describes the traditional way of eating and living in the countries around the Mediterranean. Plenty of vegetables, pulses, fruit, nuts and wholegrains, fish on a regular basis, little red meat. And above all olive oil as the main fat in the kitchen. UNESCO recognised it as intangible cultural heritage in 2010.
Just as important as the ingredients is everything around them: eating together, cooking fresh, taking your time. In the Aegean, where our olive oil comes from, that is part of everyday life.
