Ölich Olive Oil from Edremit

Your questions, honestly answered

Where does your olive oil come from?

All our olive oil comes from Edremit, on the Turkish Aegean coast. The family groves there have been in the same hands since 1785.

For us, origin and quality go hand in hand. What matters is the mild climate of the Aegean coast, the soil and the care that goes into every harvest.

Is your olive oil single variety?

Yes. Every bottle of Ölich holds single-variety olive oil from a single origin: the Memecik olive from Edremit. No blending, ever. It reflects exactly what we love about good olive oil.

Why small black bottles and 1-litre tins?

Because fresh tastes best. Our black bottle keeps UV light out and so protects the oil from oxidation. It is made of recyclable glass: simply separate the pourer from the bottle and dispose of them separately.

Our refill tins are for everyone who wants to refill their 250 ml Ölich bottle simply and sustainably. And honestly, who doesn't love beautiful bottles that suit any kitchen?

Why is my olive oil golden?

As much as we love the golden shimmer, colour says nothing about quality. The golden tones come from natural pigments such as carotenoids, which stay in the oil after pressing. So just enjoy it.

Is your olive oil GMO-free and gluten-free?

Yes. Our olive oil is GMO-free and naturally gluten-free. Ölich does not carry an organic certification. What we stand for instead: single variety, no blending, hand-harvested, extra virgin and freshly bottled.

How does the oil stay so fresh?

The black bottles keep UV light out and protect the oil from oxidation. Our tins keep the light out just as well. Both can be reused or recycled.

Ölich Olive Oil in the kitchen

On the shores of the Turkish Aegean

On our side of the Aegean, people cook with fresh, never blended olive oil. They use it by the litre.

That is the essence of Ölich: 100% Memecik olives from Edremit, a region with a long tradition of olive growing.

Olive groves on the Gulf of Edremit

The variety we chose

We tried other olive varieties. We kept coming back to the Memecik olive. Mild and fruity at first, then a light bitterness and a fine peppery finish: its aroma and its natural polyphenol content make our oil what it is.

Memecik olives

Harvested, pressed & freshly bottled

Every harvest is picked by hand, processed cold and bottled in the same season. That keeps the aromas in the oil. You get olive oil that still carries the freshness of its region.

No mixing with old oil: simply pure, single-variety flavour.

Ölich Olive Oil being freshly bottled

“As much as we love our groves, we find true fulfilment in the kitchen: in our love of cooking, with olive oil as our joy.”
