Tree & History

The Olive Tree in Anatolia

Anatolia, today's Turkey, is one of the early homes of olive growing. Olives were already pressed on the Aegean coast in antiquity. Finds of ancient oil presses show how important the oil was for the cities of the region.

Olive groves are still everywhere on the Turkish Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, and Turkey is one of the great olive oil countries of the world. Around Edremit, where our Ölich Olive Oil comes from, they shape the landscape between sea and mountains.
